In addition to her full-time job as a senior researcher and lab manager, Mayada has been NYUAD’s campus cats caretaker since 2018. She has been an active advocate for animal welfare (specifically for stray and abandonment cats) since 2013 and has developed an interest in developing, promoting, and enforcing welfare policies in educational institutions, a rich environment where spreading awareness and policies can lead to a powerful and more lasting impact in society.
